मुजफ्फरनगर: दंगे में 26 की मौत, शूट एट साइट के ऑर्डर

लखनऊ। उत्तर प्रदेश के मुजफ्फरनगर में दंगों के बाद तनाव जारी है। अब तक मरने वालों की संख्या बढ़कर 26 हो चुकी है। इसके अलावा अब तक 52 लोगों को गिरफ्तार किया जा चुका है। कई इलाकों में दंगाइयों को देखते ही गोली मारने के आदेश दिए गए हैं। लेकिन हकीकत ये है कि सेना की मौजूदगी के बाद भी हालात बेहद तनावपूर्ण हैं। मुजफ्फरनगर के बिगड़ते हालात का अंदाजा इसी बात से लगाया जा सकता है कि पिछले कई दिनों से यहां छिटपुट झड़प की खबरें आ रही थीं। लेकिन अखिलेश सरकार के साथ-साथ स्थानीय प्रशासन भी कान में तेल डालकर सोता रहा। अब जब हालात बेकाबू हो गए तो सेना बुलाई गई।

जानकारी के अनुसार इस समय मुजफ्फरनगर में कुल 38 कंपनियां तैनात की गई हैं। इसमें से पैरा मिलिट्री फोर्स की 15 कंपनियां, रैपिड एक्शन फोर्स की 5 कंपनियां भी शामिल हैं। जबकि 5 अतिरिक्त कंपनियां बुलाई गईं और 13 कंपनियां पहले से ही मौजूद हैं। हालात बेकाबू होने के बाद डीएम ने सेना की 8 कंपनियां बुलाईं। जिसमें सिर्फ देहात में 5 कंपनियां तैनात की गई हैं। प्रशासन ने पूरे शहर को 8 जोन में बांट दिया है। और पूरे शहर में कर्फ्यू है। केंद्र ने राज्य सरकार से रिपोर्ट तलब की है। इस बीच गृहमंत्री सुशील कुमार शिंदे ने मुख्यमंत्री अखिलेश से फोन पर बात कर हालात की जानकारी ली

Now, make calls with Samsung's Galaxy Gear smartwatch

Berlin/Seoul: Samsung Electronics Co Ltd and Qualcomm Inc unveiled smartwatches on Wednesday, tapping a potential "wearables" market worth an estimated USD 50 billion as the high-end mobile phone market becomes saturated.

The companies launched the devices at nearly simultaneous events in Berlin and San Diego, and some analysts immediately questioned whether the devices were too costly, with expected prices near USD 300.

Samsung's Galaxy Gear smartwatch works as an accessory to its market-leading Galaxy smartphone, with a small screen offering basic functions such as photos, hands-free calls and instant messaging.

Qualcomm's "Toq" smartwatch can play music and handle phone calls and messages. It will be the first smartwatch with a touch-enabled "Mirasol" color screen that can be viewed easily in bright sunlight.

The launch by Qualcomm, which dominates the global market for applications processors for smartphones and tablets, is seen not so much as a hot seller but as a "reference" design or device to show off the Mirasol screens, in hopes the display technology will be more widely adopted as wearables of all types take off.

Samsung, which is the world's top handset maker, hopes the Galaxy Gear will boost the appeal of its range of Android-powered smartphones, as it battles to maintain supremacy against arch rival Apple Inc.

Its launch, timed to coincide with the start of the IFA consumer electronics trade show in Berlin, also signals that the South Korean giant is more than just a fast follower in innovation behind Apple, which is preparing to release a new iPhone next week but has yet to go public with any wearable devices.

"I believe it will become a new fashion icon in the world," J.K. Shin, Samsung's co-chief executive and head of mobile business, said at its "Unpacked 2013 Episode 2" event.

The market potential for wearable devices is significant. Leveraging advances in voice technology, biometrics, communications, cloud storage and power consumption, smartwatches and other wearable devices could be a $50 billion market by 2017, according to Credit Suisse.

Apple Inc and Google Inc are also widely believed to be working on "wearables" such as wrist-worn devices, in what analysts expect to be the next phase of the mobile communications boom. The exploration of such wearable-computing devices has accelerated in recent years as smartphone growth tapers off.

Samsung's smartwatch features a 1.63-inch (4.14-cm) screen as well as a basic camera, and will connect to Samsung's latest Galaxy Note 3 smartphone via wireless Bluetooth technology. It will make calls, display messages, record videos and snap photos, all while the user's phone stays in their pocket or handbag.

Clunky, earlier versions of Samsung's smartwatch in 1999 and 2009 didn't go down well with consumers. But the success of the company's latest release will be measured as much in how it affects sales of high-end Galaxy smartphones as in sales of the device itself.

"We had smartwatch-type products before, but they were mainly for making phone calls. What's different with the Gear is it's got far more useful functions. It's usability has increased significantly and design is not bulky," Shin said.

NOT REVOLUTIONARY

The Gear will go on sale later this month for $299 while Qualcomm's Toq will begin selling in the fourth quarter. Qualcomm did not specify a price. Tech blog Cnet reported it will sell for $300.

"The real question is, will this app enhancement make the purchase of yet another smart device worth it?" said Brian Proffitt, author of several books on mobile technology and an adjunct instructor of management in the University of Notre Dame.

"It's great to have hands-free capabilities to take notes or snap a picture, but is it $299 great? That's going to be the real test for the Galaxy Gear."

FASHION ITEM

Both devices don't have a flexible or curved display that some industry watchers had hoped to see on Samsung's newest products.

The Gear's OLED touch screen features half the picture quality of high-end smartphone displays and the camera nestling in the strap has only 1.9 megapixels - compared with a 13-megapixel rear camera on the Galaxy S4.

"People are really ready for flexible. As the smartphone market matures, brands are looking for something to break through new technology that will bring new opportunities to the market," said Sweta Dash, director Display Research and Strategy at IHS Electronics and Media.

"But the technology is not ready for the mass market because it is too expensive."

Samsung's smartwatch will not be a game changer, CCS Insight analyst Ben Wood predicts.

"Samsung will do a great job in raising the profile of this new category, but I don't think we will see a massive shift."

"I think it will only really come alive if Apple would push into it real hard, because they would then make it a fashionable item. Because a watch is a fashion item. It really is."

संघ जुटा आडवाणी को मनाने में, मोदी की उम्मीदवारी तय!

नई दिल्ली। क्या 17 सितंबर से पहले आधिकारिक तौर पर नरेंद्र मोदी को एनडीए का प्रधानमंत्री उम्मीदवार घोषित कर दिया जाएगा। सूत्रों के मुताबिक संघ और बीजपी के ज्यादातर बड़े नेता मोदी के नाम पर हामी भर चुके हैं। लेकिन आडवाणी को मनाने की कोशिश जारी है। संघ चाहता है कि आडवाणी खुद मोदी के नाम का प्रस्ताव रखे जिससे ये संदेश जाए कि मोदी को लेकर पार्टी में कोई विवाद नहीं है। 17 सितंबर को मोदी का जन्मदिन है।

दरअसल दिल्ली में शुरू हुई दो दिनों की संघ और बीजेपी की समन्वय बैठक में मुद्दा सिर्फ एक है नरेंद्र मोदी। सूत्रों की मानें तो भले ही आधिकारिक तौर पर इस बैठक को चुनावों की तैयारी से जोड़ा जा रहा है लेकिन कोशिश मोदी के पक्ष में एकराय बनाने की है। माना जा रहा है कि संघ मोदी के समर्थन में अपना फैसला दे चुका है। लेकिन लालकृष्ण आडवाणी और सुषमा स्वराज इस वक्त मोदी के नाम की घोषणा के बिल्कुल खिलाफ हैं। सूत्रों के मुताबिक संघ प्रमुख मोहन भगवत चाहते हैं कि आडवाणी खुद मोदी के नाम का प्रस्ताव आगे बढ़ाए। संघ प्रमुख ने इसके लिए आडवाणी और सुषमा से अलग से मुलाकात भी की है। उधर मोदी और उनके समर्थक ने बैठक में अगले कुछ दिनों में मोदी की नाम की घोषणा करने का दबाव बनाया। इसमें अरुण जेटली और वेंकैया नायडू प्रमुख हैं।

बैठक से जल्दी बाहर आए मोदी अहमदाबाद के लिए निकल गए हैं। लेकिन संघ, वीएचपी और बीजेपी के बड़े धड़े के रूप में अपने समर्थक पीछे छोड़ गए हैं। सूत्रों के मुताबिक मोदी के नाम का सीधे विरोध करना अब किसी के बस की नहीं है। लेकिन घोषणा की टाइमिंग को लेकर एक मजबूत धड़ा डटा हुआ है। माना जा रहा है कि सुषमा स्वराज ने संघ को कहा है कि मोदी का नाम प्रधानमंत्री पद के उम्मीदवार के तौर पर अभी घोषित नहीं किया जाना चाहिए। शिवराज सिंह चौहान भी मध्य प्रदेश चुनावों से पहले मोदी के नाम की घोषणा के पक्ष में नहीं हैं। मध्य प्रदेश में 8 फीसदी मुस्लिम वोटर हैं। गोवा के मुख्यमंत्री मनोहर पर्रिकर के गुजरात दंगों से जुड़े बयान ने भी पार्टी के भीतर मचे घमासान सामने ला दिया। हालांकि बाद में वो अपने बयान से पीछे हट गए। कुल मिलाकर पार्टी के भीतर अब भी मोदी के नाम पर एकराय नहीं बन पाई है।

सूत्रों की मानें तो यही तर्क मोदी को भी परेशान कर रहा है। मोदी चाहते हैं कि उनके नाम पर विधानसभा चुनाव लड़े और जीते जाएं ताकि उसके बाद पार्टी के भीतर उनकी चुनौती खत्म हो जाए। मोदी पर ये भी दबाव बनाया जा रहा है कि प्रधानमंत्री पद का उम्मीदवार घोषित होने पर वो गुजरात के मुख्यमंत्री का पद छोड़कर चुनावों की पूरी जिम्मेदारी लें। लेकिन मोदी इसके लिए तैयार नजर नहीं आ रहे हैं ।

Muzaffarnagar violence: 13 more dead in new clashes

Muzaffarnagar:  Though 800 Army soldiers are patrolling the area of Muzaffarnagar in western Uttar Pradesh, 13 more people were killed in communal violence yesterday in six different villages.

Here are the 10 big developments in this story:

1. A state of high alert has been declared for the entire state of Uttar Pradesh. Soldiers are conducting door-to-door searches in Muzaffarnagar, 150 kilometres north-east of Delhi. A curfew has been imposed in three districts.
2. "I would appeal to all people there to maintain peace and don't trust or listen to any rumours," said Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav.
3. The first clashes erupted on Saturday when thousands of Hindu farmers held a meeting in the village of Kawal to demand justice for last month's killing of three men who allegedly tried to protect a woman from being harassed.
4. The state's Minority Affairs Minister, Azam Khan, has alleged that at Saturday's meeting, provocative speeches called for action against Muslims, according to the Associated Press. The farmers were attacked as they were going home.
5. Four BJP state legislators allegedly made incendiary speeches at the farmers' maha-panchayat.
6. The gathering was illegal because large meetings have been banned since the deaths that took place in Kawal last month.
7. Police sources say both Hindu and Muslim leaders have ignored the ban in recent days.
8. Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde has said that India is seeing a rise in communal violence, with 451 cases being already reported this year, as compared to 410 for all of last year.
9. Communal tension is expected to escalate in the run-up to the national elections, the Home Minister cautioned, adding that all 28 states have been warned to improve their ability to collect intelligence to prevent riots.

शीला दीक्षित के खिलाफ 19 सितंबर तक FIR नहीं : दिल्ली हाईकोर्ट

नई दिल्ली : दिल्ली हाईकोर्ट ने वर्ष 2008 के चुनाव के पहले विज्ञापन अभियान में सरकारी कोष के कथित दुरुपयोग के आरोप में मुख्यमंत्री शीला दीक्षित के खिलाफ प्राथमिकी दर्ज करने के निचली अदालत के आदेश पर 19 सितंबर तक के लिए आज रोक लगा दी।

न्यायमूर्ति सुनील गौड़ ने मामले को 19 सितम्बर तक स्थगित करते हुए तब तक प्राथमिकी का मामला आज की स्थिति के अनुसार यथास्थिति बनाए रखने का आदेश दिया। अदालत ने अपने आदेश में कहा कि लोकायुक्त का 22 मई 2013 की रिपोर्ट राष्ट्रपति के विचाराधीन है, इसलिए इस मामले में जांच के बारे में दोनों पक्षों की विस्तार से दलीले सुनने के बाद ही निर्णय किया जा सकता है।

अदालत ने कल गुप्ता और शीर्ष पुलिस अधिकारी को नोटिस जारी करते हुए 19 सितंबर तक दिल्ली सरकार की याचिका पर जवाब मांगा था। दिल्ली सरकार ने इस याचिका में दीक्षित और अन्य के खिलाफ साल 2008 के विधानसभा चुनाव से पहले विज्ञापन अभियान में सरकारी कोष के कथित दुरुपयोग के आरोप में प्राथमिकी दर्ज करने के निचली अदालत का 31 अगस्त का आदेश निरस्त करने का अनुरोध किया है। निचली अदालत के आदेश पर रोक लगाने के अनुरोध पर कल न्यायमूर्ति गौड़ ने कहा था कि वह विस्तृत आदेश बाद में सुनाएंगे।

राज्य सरकार की तरफ से अतिरिक्त सॉलिसीटर जनरल सिद्धार्थ लूथरा ने दावा किया था कि गुप्ता ने दीक्षित के खिलाफ शिकायत दर्ज कराने और प्राथमिकी दर्ज करने की मांग करने के दौरान लोकायुक्त की रिपोर्ट पर भरोसा किया है। इसके अलावा दीक्षित और अधिकारियों के खिलाफ कोई सामग्री नहीं है। लूथरा ने दलील दी, ‘शिकायत राजनीति से प्रेरित और तुच्छ है। लोकायुक्त की रिपोर्ट के अतिरिक्त मुख्यमंत्री और अन्य अधिकारियों के खिलाफ कोई सीधी सामग्री नहीं है

सचिन का 200वां टेस्‍ट खेलना लगभग तय, वेस्टइंडीज भारत दौरे पर सहमत

सेंट जोन्स (एंटीगा) : वेस्टइंडीज क्रिकेट बोर्ड (डब्ल्यूआईसीबी) ने नवंबर में भारत का दौरा करने का बीसीसीआई का निमंत्रण स्वीकार कर लिया है। इस श्रृंखला में दिग्गज बल्लेबाज सचिन तेंदुलकर घरेलू दर्शकों के सामने अपना 200वां टेस्ट मैच खेलेंगे। 

डब्ल्यूआईसीबी ने बयान में कहा कि वेस्टइंडीज क्रिकेट बोर्ड पुष्टि करता है कि वेस्टइंडीज की टीम नवंबर में भारत दौरे पर जाएगी। इस दौरे में दो टेस्ट और तीन एकदिवसीय अंतरराष्ट्रीय मैच शामिल हैं। डब्ल्यूआईसीबी और भारतीय क्रिकेट बोर्ड इस दौरे के लिये नवंबर में उपलब्ध समय का उपयोग करने पर सहमत हैं। 

बीसीसीआई कार्यकारिणी की रविवार को हुई बैठक में इस दौरे की पेशकश की गई थी। यह दौरा भारत के दिसंबर में होने वाले दक्षिण अफ्रीकी दौरे से पहले होगा। तेंदुलकर ने अब तक 198 टेस्ट मैच खेले हैं और श्रृंखला का दूसरा मैच खेलकर वह अपने चमकदार करियर में एक नयी उपलब्धि हासिल करेंगे। वेस्टइंडीज की टीम भारतीय दौरे के बाद न्यूजीलैंड जाएगी जहां वह तीन दिसंबर से अगले साल 15 जनवरी तक श्रृंखला खेलेगी। 

डब्ल्यूआईसीबी ने कहा कि भारतीय दौरे का पूर्ण कार्यक्रम दोनों बोर्ड के बीच अंतिम करार के बाद जारी किया जाएगा। भारत ने इस साल के शुरू में वेस्टइंडीज में त्रिकोणीय श्रृंखला खेली थी। इस श्रृंखला की तीसरी टीम श्रीलंका थी। भारत इसमें चैंपियन बना था।

दागी नेताओं के चुनाव लड़ने पर रोक बरकरार रहेगी, SC में सरकार की अर्जी खारिज

नई दिल्ली: सजायाफ्ता नेताओं के चुनाव लड़ने पर रोक बरकरार रहेगी। सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने सरकार की इस मसले पर दायर पुनर्विचार अर्जी खारिज कर दी है। सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने आपराधिक मामले में दोषी पाए गए सांसदों और विधायकों को अयोग्य ठहराने के अपने फैसले पर पुनर्विचार की केंद्र की याचिका खारिज कर दी है। सुप्रीम कोर्ट हिरासत में बंद लोगों के चुनाव लडने पर पाबंदी संबन्धी अपने फैसले की समीक्षा करने को राजी हो गया है।

सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने इस फैसले के बाद दो साल या ज्यादा की सजा होते ही सांसद या विधायक की सदस्यता छीने जाने का आदेश बरकरार रहेगा। हालांकि सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने अपने उस फैसले सरकार की एक और पुनर्विचार याचिका को मान लिया है जिसमें जेल में रहते हुए किसी नेता के चुनाव लड़ने पर प्रतिबंध लगाया गया था। 

गौर हो कि पिछले महीने की 10 और 11 तारीख को सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने जन प्रतिनिधियों से जुड़े दो अहम मामलों में ऐतिहासिक फैसले दिए थे। 10 जुलाई के फैसले में सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने कहा था कि किसी भी मामले में कोई भी कोर्ट अगर किसी सांसद को दो साल से अधिक की सजा सुनाती है तो सांसद भले उस सजा के खिलाफ ऊपरी अदालत में अपील करे, उसकी सदस्यता तत्काल प्रभाव से रद्द हो जाएगी।
